I am married to a great man and we have two daughters- an eight year old and a six year old. I have a degree in Psychology and I have worked for several years with children and families.

I love to watch movies, bake (mostly because I love to eat), do crafts and play games.

Why did I choose to become a doula?
Before I had children, I thought I would be all that they needed and that I would be able to do everything for them myself. When I had my two children 21 months apart I found out how wrong I was within 24 hours after having baby number one. I was tired, sore and weepy. I was blessed with lots of help from my mom and my mom-in-law. They were both very good at supporting my husband and me. Instead of their help making me feel like a failure (like I thought it would). I really felt that I was a better mom because of all the help because I had time to get refreshed instead of always feeling frazzled.
I remember wishing at that time that all new moms could have that kind of help. Support that made them feel renewed not belittled. I tried to do little things for friends of mine that had children, but I didn't know how to really help until a friend of mine told me one day about postpartum doulas and how they support families by educating and supporting them in that fragile time right after birth.

I began my training right away. I became a Certified Breastfeeding Educator and trained with the International Doulas of North America (DONA) as a postpartum doula. I have now worked with numerous families and completed my Postpartum Doula Certification (this is important because you must have extra training and receive good evaluations from families to be certified- check for this when interviewing a doula) through DONA.

I live in Edmond, OK and provide service to the surrounding area.
